I'm in a band!

Can you believe this? Just yesterday I was sitting on the shelf at the local thrift shop - bored out of my hula, ahem mind. Sure I occasionally swayed my hips and plunked few notes when a cute guy would walk by, but they paid no attention to me. I'm not quite sure why.... would their girl be jealous? were they afraid that I wouldn't contribute my fair share? were they unsure of my musical abilities? did they think I was high maintenance? I told you in my first post that all of that changed when Kenui & Makalani walked by. I thought he looked like one of my very own ohana back on Maui, so I gave it my best shot and here I am!

Turns out that Kenui is in a BAND! I now know that it was destiny that all of the other guys walked on by. (hey, isn't that a song? I digress....) I jammed last night, and then tonight got to go to the real thing. Premonition was playing at the Olde Towne Bistro! Makalani introduced me to some nice people who shared their flan and martini with me. It was oh so yummy!

I can't remember how it happened, maybe it was the breeze from the fans..... Somehow everyone found out that I lost my bikini bottoms on the beach some time ago. It was an unfortunate incident, but I figured that no one would really know as my skirt covers my bottom. Did I mention that I made friends really quick last night?

I had a drink, but then decided that I should share some of John's sweet tea so I didn't get too tipsy! (I have a tendancy you know....) I played with the guys, swaying to the beat as their melodies filled the room, enticing all of the wonderful patrons of the Olde Town Bistro to head for the dance floor.

Yes, I had a fabulous time last night...... and the guys - they simply ADORE me! Check this out, when's the last time you got five handsome men to take a pix with you?

My First Jam!

Not the kind you spread on toast silly!

I heard the phone ring, but even though I didn't recognize the name Larry (I am new to this ohana after all!) - when I heard Makalani talking with him about an impromptu jam, I really got my hopes up. I'm usually a solo act with my ukulele, so the opportunity to introduce others to the sweet sound of Hawaii was thrilling. I knew that Kenui was already a big fan of my music as I spied the C&K discs and ukulele in the family room.

Carrie and Larry welcomed me into their warm, cozy home and said to me, "If you're a friend of Kenui & Makalani, then you're a friend of ours!" I settled in with a Corona Light (I am watching my waistline afterall!) and joined the guys. (Now, I must tell you that although I like everyone, I really like the guys!)

Coming Home.....

How many times have you gone on vacation and brought home a souvenier only to donate it to your local thrift shop? You know who you are.... Thank goodness for people like Kenui & Makalani who rescued me and made me part of their very own ohana. I think I am going to like it here! Stay tuned for more as you live vicariously through my escapades.....
